Default Heads and Cam choices

guys i have not done a head/cam package yet the one i was going to do wont work on a 1998 trans am ls1 and i was looking to see what would be the best that i could to do to get around 600 hp/tq on a stock bottom and then for use if i decide to go with a 408 iron block ls1 it is on a a4 with a stall and d1 procharger i am not wanting 600 with all that im wanting it with just motor and to the wheels and it also has a small shot of n20 and in a while meth so i am going to run both meth and n20 i need this set up for around $2000 to $3000

Well. First of all you cannot have a set of heads and cam that work extremely well on a 346 and then have them be even better on a 408. You can have one or the other. 205-215 heads on a 346 and 225+ on the 408. The bigger cams in the 346 are practically stock for a 408.

Heads/cam/nitrous might get you to 600rwhp. Heads and cam alone you will still be around 125rwhp shy of that goal. Unless you are talking about horsepower at the crank. Good heads are going to be around $1,800-2,400. So you might have to dial that 600 number back some.
