Default Does it matter which position the balancer goes on?

I'm still working on my LS2 swap(damn the little things take forever ) I 'm about to replace the stock harmonic balancer with an SLP underdrive so does the engine have to be at tdc to take it off? Does it even matter which way it comes on or off? I don't see any real marks on it and I've looked all sorts of different info to see if it needs to come off/put on in a certain position. SLP's instructions doesn't say anything about it either so I'm guessing it doesn't matter, just need some opinions from some of the experts here. Thanks.

no. it can go however you want. these engines have coil over spark ignition using a crank and cam trigger, so they dont need timing marks for a light gun, etc.. just pick your favorite spot, and bolt'er up.

Slip her on anyway. 67RS is right with everything he said. There is no keyway that is needed. Just make sure you have a tool that will draw it up right and square. It wouldnt be a bad time to replace that front seal either. Alot of people are having their crank bolts back out and pulleys walk when they start getting higher in HP. They end up pinning it. Make sure you use a new bolt or get one from ARP.

Ok, thanks guys. The underdrive from SLP came with a new bolt. Should be interesting trying to tighten this thing, lol.
