Cool Head Gasket Fitiment Question??

Will 3.910 head gaskets work with a 3.905 engine bore? I just had my motor rebuilt and it had to be bored 7 thousandths. Just wondering if the gaskets I bought would still work??

IMO thats cutting it close. Step up to the 6.0L MLS gaskets. I think theyre 4.030 bore, and .052 thick.

i think it will be close but i believe it will clear.i checked a set of cometic 3.910 gaskets i got and they were a few thou over 3.910 and your pistons are probably .005-.006 thou smaller than your bore so i think it will work.

It will work, but as a general rule, you want to keep the gasket .020 + out of the fire. Probably wont really make a difference in real world, but thats whats recommended...

Ony problem is we already have these 3.910 cometic gaskets. Didnt know it was gong to have to be bored over. Would really suck to have to sell these and get new ones..

Is there a way to check for sure to see if they will work? Whats the potential bad outcomes?

When they are set down on the block they do work but the gasket holes where the studs go through it are a little loose and it looks like if they were to shift the wrong way they could cover a tiny amount. If placed on perfectly it doesnt overlap..

Thanks for the help.

Tiger,
Who did you buy the gaskets from? Give them a call and see if you can exchange yours for a larger diameter.

I bought them from a guy on here.. Gave like $130 for them. I suppose its better to just buy new ones and lose a little on them than risk a big problem.
