Default Thoughts on Golens 383 short block

Long story short I have metal shavings in my oil. What are your thoughts about the Golen 383 that is in the December issue of chp, but order a short block and use the stuff in my sig, depending on course of what else isn't hurt.

I personally like there shortblocks.. with a decent set of heads and a cam to match you can make good power & have decent longevity with it. Go For it!

the 396 is more pricey but you will have a much easier time breaking the 500 horsepower mark (depending on your setup you want) and will have some issues with keeping it under 180 or 160 (depending on which thermostat you use) without a good tune

have you done a search on their stuff here and on CZ28.com?
Just from post on those 2 sites would not put a good feeling about them.

Have you called and talked to Eric at VRE?

if you try to buy a block on golens site, before you can give any information chad forces you to give him his phone number so he can talk to you about what setup you will be running and what can be done to best suit your needs. its excellent

i have golen's 383. comes well assembled with no cut corners or lazy spells. ask chad and he'll give you anything you need for your buildup. buy the upgraded pistons and make sure you get stroker rods (mine didn't for some reason) and it comes blueprinted. It's the best workmanship and value for the price. Go with LE heads/cam or AI depending which side of the fence you're on and then you'll love it!! check impala forums, too, a lot of those guys use them.

I've already got all of Lloyd's stuff although I might need a new cam as I think that I made some of the lobes kinda roundish. Not his or Brets fault at all. But I beat the **** out if the guy that called me out
