Let say i want to keep the $$$ as low as i can.
the common mod ive seen people talk about on this board is the LS6 intake. how much hp does that give and is it direct bolt on?

I would say that you will need a lid, intake, TB, headers, exhaust, a good cam and a tune. How will be looking at some money for all of these so I hope you got deep pockets if you plan on doing this all at once. Now dont quote me on this but for about 2400 to 3000 you can probably do all the above. Please correct me if im wrong. I would just get the best right now so you dont have to worry about upgrading later. Talk to some speed shops as well. that might help. Sponsor forum

Im not really experienced in the cam department but the lid is the cover that goes over your air filter and runs to the throttle body. Its usually the first thing that is replaced b/c it allows better air flow the engine.

As has been said, bolt ons and a cam. A cam is not usually considered a bolton part. Valve springs and pushrods are needed along with the cam. Also, you are going to need a good tune after the cam install to get everything working smoothly, with a healthy cam and a good tune, 400RWHP is possible, but its going to take a good sized cam to do so.

cheapest way is just nitrous....plain and simple...500-800$ for a 100-150 kit..and your looking at 375-425 rwhp...
add a catback for 300-600 for tone and a bit more hp..385-435rwhp..

i really dont recomend doing with nitrous ....bolt ons is the best way to start off ...headers, exhaust, lid (more less though as a intake ),ls6 intake manifold, and ported throttle body ..then maybe a tune ...thats the best way to get a good start......and then if you want to spend some money heads and cam .......my motor which was in my buddies car before i bought...it got 438 rwhp with kooks headers, texas speed heads and cam set,ls6 intake w/the bbk throttle body , and slp lid ...it was also tuned by one of our good friends on the street not on the dyno.......yes nitrous is the cheapest and easy way out there ...but it can cause long term damage if not used correctly ....nitrous can be very safe but also can be very dangerous for your motor .....i suggest if you go with nitrous really check into first...trust me i had nitrous on a few cars and i'm going to put it on my new motor but if your new to this try to stay away from nitrous
but thats just my feelings on the subject other may think different ...it all in how much you want to spend and what you want

_ If you have no experience with nitrous, or don't know someone who does....I wouldn't without a doubt in my mind recommend it, very very easy to mess up with it. As they say "you spray, you pay"
_ Bolt ons and Cam/tune route is a much safer way imo. Except if you are looking for daily drivability, you can kiss your gas mileage goodbye!!!
_ However, if you are looking for a 400hp daily driver....you might want to look into perhaps getting a turbo, but you will need fuel upgrades and a tune. Alot of people using turbos seem to retain their stock gas mileage and stock drivibility when they >>>>>>DON'T HIT THE GAS<<<<<<< from my experience.
hope this helps!!

I saw 422 RWHP with just a few things:
-MTI lid
-Pacesetter Headers
-True Duals
-and a G5X3 cam with a tune
Obviously you dont have to go with True Duals on the exhaust, and if you are going to put in a cam, you will have to change out the Springs. But the price on those vary depending on what kind of cam you go with.
