I noticed the same thing...but since i got the SLP double roller or "rollmaster" lol they said to put a very very thin coat of high temp silicone against the pump spacer's included in the kit...im going to put a very slight amount because that just seems a little weird to me metal to metal..im sure the tolerance and mating surface is very smooth..but im gunna put a little silicone just to be sure

GM hasnt put a gasket between the pump and the rear main cap on the sbc for nearly 40 years. I guess this motor doesnt need one either. I wouldnt recomend using RTV or any other gasket maker anywhere near the oil pump. Too many small oil passages to get clogged up.

Hi pressure, non hardening, hi-tack or aviation type sealer, will fill any voids and not get drawn into oiling system. I used it with Rollmaster spacer for oil pump.
