possibly broke rear end
i turned right and punched tires spun and then hooked and i heard a loud pop now when i take turns from a stop or go up a hill it makes a loud clunking noise from the back but it does not do it when i go in a straghit line or when i take turns with some speed what could this be i am stumped

i had something similar but mine would also lock up at high rpms. took the cover off and everything looked fine. after a week it got real bad, was locking up around 2500 rpms and clunking at idle, so i took the cover off again. one of the metal pieces that hold the springs in the posi unit had cracked and was about to shear off. i assume thats what was causing the problem as there were no signs of wear on the ring, pinion, or side gears.

go ahead and upgrade the rear, unless its cost prohibitive at the moment. even if you replace the posi unit and it runs smooth again that is still a puny gear set. i bought a 9" from scott@dls for under 2 grand a couple months ago. considering you will probably drop well over a grand to have your 10 bolt rebuilt, assuming you dont do it yourself, not a huge price difference.

When mine went the first time (after a 2-3 powershift) it just made a loud humming noise, but the posi was also clinking and clanking whenever I turned--it was just out of oil. Try putting some more oil and stuff in there first.

Never a better time and excuse to get a new beefy rear and forget about the 10 bolt
