Default installing starter.

So, after i got my driveshaft problem fixed today i get into my car and try to crank it. I let go of the key before it started and it died. Then my starter dis-engauged and kept spinning. After about two minutes while i was fumbling for my tools to disconnect my battery, it stopped spinning. It burned up. So the question is, How hard is it to install a starter with nothing more than a pro socket set, factory jack, and some walmart jack stands? I have the haynes manuel, but sometimes it gives a false sense of ability to problems we have.

Not hard at all. Just be sure to keep the battery connections off and I believe it will take a 14mm socket and an extension to get the short bolt off. Be sure to spray a little bit of penetrator to make the bolts come out easier. I had mine seize up and crack my block. Dont let that scare you. Dont forget to swap out the little heat shield off your old starter to your new one as well.

mine is a pre-2000. it doesnt have a heat sheild. I have some bad *** tools. Thanks for the tips, ill def. use that penetrator stuff. I just didnt want to read the haynes manuel and think I know everything and get myself into something bigger than they make it out to be.

Be sure to put the wires back on the new starter exactly as they were on the old one.
