Default installing shift linkage.....

had to get another shift cable/linkage because mine was broke and wondering what I'm getting myself into as to swapping them out. I've never done this and am wondering if any of you have any tips? I assume I just have to take it off the transmission and remove the center console to remove where it attaches to the shifter. is there anything I need to worry about such as the grommet between the cable and the trans tunnel? the one i bought looks to already be torn from the pervious car. no big deal i guess... thanks guys for any tips

Well its a pretty clean cut deal , the little boot though floor will probably tear but the oem cables I have seen have a new one built on them , Just be sure to put it back in and guides under car and watch the exhaust , they melt pretty easy ,

well, the one i got is used and the rubber boot is already torn/not there. i really dont think it will be all too bad. I dont guess anything would really get into the car through there anyway. thanks
