Thumbs up New GM 454 LS Based Engine Available...

According to the guys at the GM booth at the recent SEMA show, an all new, LS based 454 c.i. engine is very soon to be available for purchase. Blocks will be available in March 2007. Wonder if JohnB has put in his order yet? LOL Gar

No, it's not the replacement for the 8.1 - it's the LSX crate motor. I can't imagine it would do too well as a work-truck engine.

it sucks that they decided to change the head bolt pattern on the 8.1 so you cant use the other MKIV heads on it.. if they would have left it the same that would be a badass motor for sure

Looked on the website, says it will hold to 2,500 horsepower.

I wonder what its gonna cost.

Notice the extra head bolts? 2 per cyl top and bottom.

What's the big hole bellow the driver side waterpump?

Even if it has extra headbolts it will still accept the stock headboltpattern i.e LS1,2,6,7 heads will fit.

In the GM SEMA booth they showed the Reggie Jackson '69 Camaro that has the new LSX engine. GM is going to promote the LSX with his car but it is carbed.

Probably a decission to make it more "friendly" to the average Joe hotrodder than using PCM/EFI.
