Default New Idea For Custom Engine Covers-Take A Look!

OK, I said I would put up pics when these were done-so here they are. I decided to try something different to top off the engine for the next show season-tell me what you think.

These started out life as a set of Jeg's LS1 Coil Covers. !st thing I did was have a friend mill off the Jeg's Logo and create a cavity. Then I had them chromed, added Carbon Fiber to the bottom of the cavity, and then the logos, then painted the areas in between the raised fins Red.

Sorry about quality of some pics, but it's hard to take pics of chromed items

Didn't install yet - waiting for a few other items before tearing into the engine again and these will be the last to go on...

Are your letters and emblems Vinyl decals? They look good, like they are polished or chromed.

Well, they didn't come with the SLP logo on them - I put it on. I have quite a few SLP parts on my car and they all worked and fit as described so I have no problem with SLP.

Not like it's permanent - If I find something that fits in that area that I like better - I'll go with that.

This is just first go around for these coil covers - I had Custom Painted FRC's just as yours for a couple years - got tired of them and thought I'd try something different.

I try to have items on my car that no one else has to make it unique. At first, most people just put the Corvette FRC's on their T/A's, then having custom FRC's was unique - now it seems everyone has them so it's time for a change

I must admit, if I ever went back to FRC's - they would be Tru Fire this time.

Well, at the end of this seaon I did install the Volant CAI with a little twist - the 'Y' intake was chromed and has an TA bird in red on it.

Next to be chromed is that ugly plastic part that runs across the front of the car directly in front of the hood latch and brackets - you would have thought that GM would have at least painted it the color of the car...

I also had a custom HuMount made for my new stereo system - Ican't take credit for the quality work - but I did specify the logo and arrangement - he made it all work!

Then there's the Grand Am Shifter Boot Mod with the shortened shift lever and aftermarket ****:

And my custom embroidered Trophy Mat:

Custom embroidered Black Satin TA Jackets for me and the wife at shows:

And finally, I had my LS6 stock Intake entirely chromed - don't have any pics of it yet

What is all this "Phoenix" stuff, just your name for the car?
Why put SLP on covers for a WS6? SLP didn't build the WS6.

Yup, just my name for the car

Because I just happened to have a chrome SLP badge that fit in the area and I have several SLP parts on the car. As I stated, if I find something else that fits in that area - I'll replace it - they won't be on the car for couple months anywho.

Plus I like to stir up all the SLP haters out there...

Get a custom "WS6" emblem made to fit there. It can be laser cut out of stainless and polished up. Send a PM to Camaroboy69 (Adam) he can design and have it made.

I have said it before in another of your threads, on a beautifully detailed car with an awesome engine bay that has obviously had some thought put into it...I have to say....

Those BLUE cone filters look like **** in and otherwise perfect setting. So out of place.

Just my $.02

I cannot wait to see the pics of these covers installed and I am anxious to see a chromed LS6 intake.

It's an manual shifter ball with conversion adapter

I totally agree with ya on this one. I installed this late in the year and didn't have time to look for 'Red' Version filter elements similar to the K&N style. I realize that the color on the K&N's are from the oil, but the filter has to start out as white or red for the red oil to work. Have to do a little research - Unless someone already knows of a duplicate version (size & style wise) that is red or could use the red oil?????

Send a PM to Camaroboy69 (Adam) he can design and have it made.
Thanx for the info Nineball - I'll look him up...

Come to think of it, after taking a good look at the 'blue' filters it seems they may be a neutral color after they are thoroughly cleaned.

I'll clean one thoroughly and see if it can then be oiled up 'red' if not, there's always the K&N colored pre-filter route...
