Are you replacing them with Autozone junkers?

If you dig around, most people that replace them with reman alternators complain about them. Most end up biting the bullet and getting a new GM alternator, or replacing it with something a little tougher that puts out more amperage than stock. I think Ohio Generator is one company that makes them.

Maybe i should mention, it's a h/c car pushing over 400 hp think that has anything to do with it? maybe overcharging? and burning itself out?

Check your grounds and battery cables. A bad ground/negetive cable will do that.
