Default Timing Question

What would be considered an aggressive number for timing @ about 8 lbs with low to mid 11 air to fuel ratio? Right now I am at 18 degrees and was told that that is pretty safe. I'm probally not going to run any more I just was just wondering what would be considered agressive.

Is there a rule of thumb concerning timing to horsepower? Like 1 degree = x amount of horsepower.
