Default just purchased, need questions answered

so i just purchased a 99 ramair firebird. it apparently as the (i may not have this correct, sorry) wls 6 package. yeah i don't know what that means and i would like to know more about my car. ha yeah i got it REALLY cheap which is why i jumped on it. to be honest until now i have been more into the sport compact seen but i couldn't stay away from some real power so yeah any info would be great.

WS6 is the RPO code for the hood & suspension package that was available. You'll find lots more info once you begin searching for it.

While it is a Firebird, you may want to start calling it a Trans Am. All Trans Ams are Firebirds, but not all Firebirds are Trans Ams. Not all Trans Ams are WS6's. Keep visiting the site and you will gain a ton of knowledge at your own pace.

He didn't actually say it was a Trans Am. He just said 'ram air firebird'. He could have a WS6 Formula. To the original poster....which is it? Does it say Formula or Trans Am on the door?

it says Trans am...yeah sorry i looked at the car after trying to google it up and yeah i feel really dumb now...like i said before this i've been into compacts (auto-x). but yeah ws6 ramair (apparently that is included in the ws6) oh yeah and they included a larger fuel rail to sweeten the deal (they said another car had it extra, guy had no use for it) and that it is probably the first mod most people go for. i think that in the next month i'll probably install a shifter kit rather than swap for a 6-speed

Any V8 Firebird is something to be proud of. The TA is basically an appearance package in my opinion Front and rear bumpers are changed, and the spoiler/deck lid is as well. The WS6 gets the ram air in that year, which is good for 10-15HP over normal V8 setups. A WS6 Ram Air Formula will have the same performance, just different looks. You have a great car, but I like Formulas better Not as common hehe Kinda get overlooked if the Firebird doesn't have the bigger spoiler, untill all they see is your tail lights, then they know they goofed.

Though there are those who will disagree, I feel the '98-'02 Trans Ams are the best ones built. Performance, handling & styling that no other Trans Am can match.

haha yea It's not "Ram Air" up untill around Mach 7 I think it is But I think it's breathing the cooler air that gives it the HP gain.

Bummer. BTW, I cringe every time someone calls my car a Firebird. The only place it is called that is on the owner's manual. It is a Formula, thank you very much.
Unless, of course, someone wants to race me. Then it quickly becomes a Firebird (V6, of course).
When I go to the autoparts, I have to tell them it is a TA, because no one has heard of a Formula.

well there are plenty here in the for sale setion you know. probably a better deal to be found either way. If i were you id look for a firehawk. Really rare as far as firebirds and trans ams go. I hope you get a trans am or hawk especialyy after a neon!? lol youll feel as if youd bought a mclaren!

the cooler air is down on the ground, not up above the bumper
