I have a 2002 Z28 with the A4 and around 54,500 miles. The actual baseline dyno is in my sig and was performed at TT Performance in December 2004 using their dyno jet. The following is a summary of the dyno runs that were performed on 11/11/06 at Harris Speed Works using their dyno jet. All 9 runs were made within an hour. All 9 runs were made on the same dyno. The weather condition is on the linked dyno graphs. This was an open hood dyno with a fan blowing air towards the radiator area from an angle beneath the car.

With Thunder Racing's Ported Throttle Body:

Run #1: 295.2 Max HP, 346.4 ft-lbs, 12.9 a/f
Run #2: 296.8 Max HP, 341.9 ft-lbs, 12.9 a/f
Run #3: 297.7 Max HP, 345.9 ft-lbs, 13.1 a/f (http://home.att.net/~damon_z/images/Z28_baseline_11_11_06.jpg)

With Thunder Racing's Ported Throttle Body & The SLP Lid:

Run #4: 300.6 Max HP, 352.7 ft-lbs, 14.0 a/f
Run #5: 300.8 Max HP, 352.2 ft-lbs, 14.0 a/f
Run #6: 303.3 Max HP, 353.0 ft-lbs, 14.0 a/f (http://home.att.net/~damon_z/images/Z28_after_SLP_Lid_11_11_06.jpg)

With Thunder Racing's Ported Throttle Body, The SLP Lid & Al Austin's SSRA2:

Run #7: 317.8 Max HP, 358.5 ft-lbs, 14.1 a/f (http://home.att.net/~damon_z/images/Z28_after_SLP_lid_and_SSRA2_11_11_06.jpg)
Run #8: 316.8 Max HP, 356.5 ft-lbs, 14.0 a/f
Run #9: 315.9 Max HP, 360.4 ft-lbs, 14.0 a/f

I can't wait to take this car to the dragstrip. I think I can get at least a 110 MPH trap speed in really good weather.

not to burst your bubble or anything, but comparing numbers from two different dynos doesn't really do you any good. Each and every dyno is different. A magazine once tested around 10 dynos with the same car in similar weather and there was a 70 hp difference between the lowest and highest numbers.

You didn't burst my bubble. You should have read the whole thing. The baseline used in this dyno session was the first three runs. All 9 runs were made on the same dyno. Just to keep your same mistake from happening again, I've made it clear in the original post by bolding and underlining it.

I did read that, I was just pointing out that dynos are different and just because you dyno that, doesn't mean you'll trap 110. Also, 14.1 a/f ratio is kinda high...isn't it?

Yeah, I understand you now. It looks like the SLP lid leaned me out, but the mandatory dyno tune is in store for the near future. I just have to upgrade the whole exhaust system first...

hmm...maybe i should have my car dynoed, thats lil scary that it would do that. was there any detonation?

Yea, 14:1 is pretty lean, thats how the MAF gets you the power, once you richen it up you'll lose some. Great numbers regardless though. You may not trap 110 though, ALMOST trapped 112 and I'm making 400 RWHP. However, it was my first time out, but I doubt my MPH will be affected much, just take her out and see, if your not satisfied add some more stuff!! :) Good luck.

Thanks. I'm hoping the weather gets extra extra cold just to give me the additional horsepower. I'll keep you posted on any quarter mile time results...

I don't know. The only monitoring that was performed was air/fuel. I just realized that if I was to compare the air/fuel ratio, from the baseline dyno that was done on another dyno jet two years ago, to the baseline dyno with the ported tb (above), then I can assume that the ported TB also leaned me out, because the air/fuel from two years ago was at 12:1. I don't think that air/fuel ratios should vary much between dyno jets.

Yup. I just realized that. The baseline torque numbers are around 30 ft-lbs more than my baseline number from another dyno jet. I'm trying to get to the bottom of this...

Happy with my SSRA as well. They advertise a gain of 13rwhp at a simulated 50mph and obviously your car likes the SSRA :) Did you have a very high powerful fan under it?

Not even. It looked like a big fan that you would buy for your living room. It's the SSRA2 that I have. It's not the full system that includes the long under-bumper scoop.

Get that A/F ratio down...I've run my car that lean before at WOT (during one of my latest tuning episodes), and it ran like shit.

You stated that the the 9 runs were with hood up. Was the run in your sig with the hood up? I'm sure you are aware that the "hood up" is a trick dyno opperators use to boost h.p. output. The hood being down will kill 15-20 RWHP.

Yup. I don't think I've ever seen a dyno performed with the hood down.

Ya, chassis dyno numbers are a pet peeve of mine, as I'm sure some of the respondents on this forum will attest.

Yeah, but you didn't have the fast-track-in-good-weather-mod. I'm hoping the next time I go to the dragstrip, I'm going to have the same -950 DA that would give a significant boost in horsepower.

The SSRA2 (without the scoop) can be bought from Al Austin aka ss1le02. The full version, SSRA, can be bought from him or from lmperformance. I'm currently using the SSRA2 so the risk of hydrolock is small and I won't have to worry about damaging a scoop if I park over a curb.

I would get it dyno tuned. That 14.0 a/f is scary you'll be needing a rebuild soon if the computer doesn't relearn and richen the mixture up.

I just got it. I only gained something like 4 horsepower from the dyno tune. There was real knock retard from the fact that it was lean, but it was tuned out when more fuel was added. Now, I'm down to 12.8-12.9 air/fuel ratio. No knock whatsoever. I can't wait to take it to the drag strip.

nice torque...crazy how much higher it is than the hp though...
