Can someone explain the differences in the LS-1 fuel rails for me?

Default Can someone explain the differences in the LS-1 fuel rails for me?

I have been looking at the nice fuel rail lines that Street & Performance sells lately, but I do not understand what the differences is between the Camaro and Corvette models.

I understand that some of them have a regulator built into a tank.

I want to use a stock GM 87-91 K5 Blazer EFI sending unit with an AC Delco EP-241 fuel pump attached to it.

Do the Corvette's use a regulator built into the fuel rails? If so, then I guess I need to use the Cprvett set-up since the sending unit doesn't have any kind of regulator on it. Or how can the Camaro fuel rail kit be modified to use a fuel regulator?

The early LS1 vette fuel rails had a regulator on them and would be a direct hookup. I think it was only the 97-98 that were setup like that. If you wanted to use the camaro rails you can just use the corvette fuel filter/ regulator combo from the newer vettes. The PN is in the sticky.

you can buy regular rails and then add an external regulator. probably easier/cheaper than using 96 vette rails. im not positive about cheapness though.

But isn't the 99 Corvette fuel filter/regulator designed for just one total line to the filter and then two lines to the tank?

The 99 filt/reg is set up for two lines from the tank ( feed and return) and then one regulated line goes to the rail. This is the same way your sending unit is set up, the sending unit you have has 3 lines, feed, return, and a vent that goes to the charcoal canister.

97 Vettes had a return type fuel system like the LT1's. '98 up uses the fuel filter with the return/regulator.

97 and 98 corvette uses the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail with a supply and return line.

All other LS1's have a single connection on the fuel rail and use an external regulator.

97-98 Corvette


99-04 Corvette


98-02 F-body

With what I am reading, then the single fuel rail set-up on some Camaro's, you can just use the 99-Up Corvette Fuel Filter/Regulator.

So what do you have to do to use a Camaro dual fuel rail in a conversion vehicle that doesn't have a regulator on the sending unit in the gas tank?

With the dual line fuel rail on the Camaro's, is there an inline GM or factory replacement regulator/filter (maybe from the 97-98 Corvette's) that I could use?

All of the Camaros used a single line fuel rail. And yes you can use the 99 Corvette filter/regulator, because 99+ corvettes use the same single line rail. For these you run one line from the pump to the FPR, one line from the FPR to the fuel rail and a third line from the FPR back to the tank. This allows you to have a short return line and only one line running to the fuel rail.

The dual line rails were only used on 97 and 98 Corvettes. The regulator is part of the fuel rail and there is an aftermarket one that is adjustable. For these you run one line from the pump to the rail and one from the rail back to the tank.

Thanks man! Maybe I was reading the earlier posts wrong or something. That sums it up for me.

I was talking with Mark at S&P the other day, told him about putting the LS-1 into my 1981 Blazer, and he tried to stear me away from the single-line Corvette FFR for some strange reason???

I didn't understand his reasoning, because they seem to push that set-up a lot!
