Default predator or prey?

ok, i never had to worry about this with my '65 Lemans (low 11 high 10 1/4 n/a). but what "high tech" hot rods and imports should i be weary of with my '97 T/A? i have switched my rear gear to 4.10 after the 4.56 broke. i have about all the bolt ons minus headers. slp l/m catback, 275/40r17 tires (bald kumos), slp cai, maf, 160 tstat, csr h2o pump, short throw hurst... you get it. i know it is a good 13.5 car w/traction. 4.56 and the kumos only got me 13.8 in some bad weather. i beat alot of LS1s that night (i can cut a mean tree and walk a bald tire) and all the imports. but i know there are better ones out there. any info might save me from eating humble pie. main cars i am woundering about are the 350z's, Stealth/3000gt, Supras, Mustangs. almost everything around here is near stock.

I have to admit, a well built turbo GSX (AWD) eclipse is fast. My 91 TPI I lost to one all the time lol I beat alot of other cars I raced tho, all the mustangs I smoked, beat an M6 LT1 (I had a race built A4).

I think a WRX STi with mods MAAAAAAY be a good race, not sure on a Lancer Evo IV, V or VI. The other thread there is people racing Cobras, I think them and Saleens you might want to be weary of I'd be interested in how we fair against a Lightning (the newer with the A/C cold air boost).

00-02 cobras are a GOOD race, 03-04 I'd stay away from because they're fast into the 12's stock (supercharged)..the awd cars like lancers ive seen plenty in the 12's with minimal mods. supras are fast with turbos, as is any turbod 350z.
bolton lt1 cars are quick, and i took many cars, even nitrous'd mustangs and turbo'd imports on a 13.5 auto lt1.

Dont worry about the 350z's they are a joke. My friend has one, it has the same V-6 that my moms Altima has.

As far as 3000GT and Stealths dont worry about those either, they weigh alittle more than your TA (if I remember correctly), plus most of them are front wheel drive and have a crappy V-6, the VR4 is the one to worry about

Basically any 'stang is yours, except for those mentioned earlier. the newer Cobras run 12s???? Are you sure?

Capy, saying the 350Z has the same V6 as the Altima, is like saying the 450hp Vette has the same V8 as the GXP Grand Prix Sure, true in a sense, but not accurate.

Could also say the same with the Dodge Spirit V6 model and the 3000GT/Stealth.

I haven't raced any Z's, or the Turbo 3000GT, but I know the N/A 3000GT won't be a problem. I beat one with my 91 'Bird.

Well.... 3000 gt has a twin turbo version and AWD version so, you never know there. I've seen the SRT-4 neons run 13's. I was under the assumption that the evo's were very similar in speed and capability as the WRX's running in the 12's & 13's. They can be great off the line with the AWD but, they usually get walked when we get traction. As for the 350Z's, they are like high 13's.

WRX's in particular should not pose much of a problem. Those are the 2.0 4-cylinder AWD turbo's with only like 240HP at the flywheel and run a 14.5 at best in manual form. Now the STI's and the Evo's you do have to worry about. Both come with 300 some odd HP at the flywheel, are relatively light, are AWD and are easy to make fast. Both stock are mid-low 13 second cars. Then again, I've seen both run 15-16 second passes due to bad driver's. And anyone feel free to correct me if Im wrong, but one or the other isnt exactly easy to lauch I've heard, AWD or not. I think it's the STI, but I'm not sure.

3000GT/Stealth's are twin-turbo V6's. Pretty decent cars, but you probably wont see one faster than a 13.0-12.5. I think the fastest VR4 is only in the 10's, and thats with a fully stripped and prepped drag car. Those cars are to heavy for there own good.

350z's, despite the rep they seem to have are actually in M6 vs. M6 LT1, and even in auto trim pretty equal to a LT1 stock for stock. But these things usally seem to have some of the worst driver's behind the wheel. And either way, mod for mod, you should beat them. A 13.5 is more than good enough to fend of 8 out of 10 Z's you might encounter. Only one's you might have to worry about are the newer one's which are actually 13 second capable in stock trim, and as stated, the FI ones. Those VQ motors by Nissan are one of the best engine's every made, and easily the best made by the company, even taking into account the RB25DETT(Skyline). Most should be easy pickings as said, but what out for those "2 out of 10" that might surprise you.

Mustangs...well, everyone else has kind of said it. For the life of me, I havent really found out what the newer GT's run stock, but the previous years all the way back into the 80'S are easy pickings in stock form. Now the Cobra's and the Mach 1's...well, thats a different story.

The first evo to be imported was the VIII's and now there are IX's.

Both of them with a decent driver will eat you from a dig.

Shows how much I pay attention to import models

Yes SRT-4's are FFFFFFFAST. Every one my friend has raced in his Vette, has walked him. Even if they don't get traction :\

Dude you obviously have a tool of a friend with a vette. srt4's aren't anything special at all...not that a corvette is but stock for stock that's pretty sad.

Sorry,I should've said they weren't stock and his 94 is. We've put a 650HP 468 BBC into an S-10, so I've got a good general idea on what is quick and not.

I have handed my friends 350z his butt on many occasions, its a manual, dont know much else, but that it just has the same engine as my moms car.
Is there something that I am overlooking?

Yes.

Altima:
M6/A5- 3.5L V6 270hp @ 6,000 and 285ft/lbs @ 4,400

Maxima:
A5- 3.5L V6 255hp @ 6,000 and 254ft/lbs @ 4,400

350Z:
M6- 3.5L V6 300hp @ 6,200 and 260ft/lbs @ 4,800
A5- 3.5L V6 287hp @ 6,200 and 274ft/lbs @ 4,800

heh Like I mentioned befor, it's like Spirit and Stealth. Both might have the 3.0L V6, but it's not exactly the same engine. I have a feeling they use a bit better components in the Z, since you can get away with boosting them.

By the looks of it, I think the Altima with the 350Z computer would get the best performance. With the M6 it also, oddly enough, weighs less than the 350Z. The problem with them, is their real high torque band. Can't get the car moving quick enough, where as our F-Body's have a much lower torque band, even though we're quite a bit heavier (400-600lbs more).

Not trying to start a fight, but I think it's silly to say somethings the same if it's not entirely that.
