Default TD Muffler choice advice

I'm going to be dropping my car off for a badass full stainless TD set-up to be built by a very well respected local exhaust/header shop.

The car will be running 1 7/8" primary headers w/o cats (plan to go S/C later on).
I'd like the car to be more on the refined and quiet side vs. the usual loud obnoxious set-up's out there. I'd like a good nice tone when I get on it but still be able to easily hold a conversation while cruising...I love the car and really don't want to ruin it with something too loud.
I was planning on running 4 Magnaflow bullets...2 before the axel and 2 after.
I also thought of maybe instead running 2 Magnaflow bullets before the axel with a full-size dual in/out Magnaflow muffer in the stock location (similar to the Bassani TD set-up).

What do you guys think?
4 Bullets vs. 2 Bullets and a full-size???

I had the same idea as well. I was thinking 2 dynomax bullets before the axel and 2 after. I might just get 2 10 series flowmasters (1 chambers) and be done with it.

I'm really looking to stick to 1 out of the 2 choices I outlined above, either:
4 Magnaflow Bullets
or...
2 Magnaflow Bullets and 1 Magnaflow Full-size dual in/out in the stock location

I would avoid using bullets they are not going to reduce the sound enough to warrant the weight. They are good for curing rasp but are still loud as hell.

For what you're looking for, you need a full size muffler no question. The bassani-type setup is what I have, and was very happy with it. For a true dual exhaust it is definately on the quieter side. Very refined sound yet much louder than stock so is aggressive as well.

You can bring your shop an Ultraflow dual-in dual-out muffler and have them fabricate the rest. Should be reasonable cost AND do what you're looking to do. No question that is the way I would go.

Actually the Magnaflow's dual-in dual-out muffler is not TRUE dual-in dual-out....there is an "x" crossing in there of the exhaust gases which is NOT ideal for true dual exhausts. Like I mentioned above the only stainless one I know of is the dynamax ultraflow which is what I used on my setup:

What would be wrong with running the Magnaflow full-size which has an X type crossover inside in a TD set-up?

I knew of the X design of it, I actually thought it would be BETTER???

Do you happen to have a part# for the Dynomax you're running?
I'm asking because everything I've found shows the Dynomax dual in/out's as being an 'X' style as well

I like the flow pro twisters myself. I run them on mine. Let me see if I can find the thread with the clips.

For what you are after, I'd recommend two of the Borla XR1 #40085. It will be loud when you are on it, fairly quiet at idle/cruise. Easily hold a convo inside the car. And nothing beats how smooth and deep the XR1s sound.

Part Number 17276, 2.5" inlets/outlets stainless steel

For more information on the muffler, a cross-sectional picture and a write-up I did about replacing it into my system, see this thread
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/494790-custom-true-dual-exhaust-design-modification-56k.html

Theoretically there would be little difference if the full size muffler you choose has an internal crossover or not, because it's father down the exhaust stream, where it problably doesn't matter. But I wanted a TRUE dual-in dual-out system, just in case there was some physics that weren't ideal, to make sure I was running the most optimum setup possible. Actually the dynamax is a little larger than the Magnaflow you talk of (I've seen both in person) so it would fit your goals better. I say why not get the TRUE in/out.

The reason I like the one muffler system setup, it it's a perfect compromise of sound and clearance. It doesn't reduce your ground clearance as two full size mufflers would do, yet it muffles the exhaust quite a bit more than straight pipes or bullets because of the full size muffler. It's really the best of both worlds when it comes to True Dual Exhausts, that it's only a matter of time before people start realizing the benefits and have custom systems made utilizing a full size dual-in dual-out muffler in the factory location.
