Default Lg G5x4 Question?

I know the specs on this cam are secret and im not asking for them. Im purchasing this cam and would like to know what rpm to set my shift points at. What rpms do these cams make power untill. All other mods in sig except ill be swaping the 410s for 373. Thanks

it's gonna make power clear to 7K rpm. I would set up my shift points according to where the shift drops the rpm to.

Your heads and intake play a big role in where the "cam" peaks. It's a full setup with many pieces that determine its performance characteristics. Surely it'll pull to 7k. The X3 does.

What would be the hp difference between the g5x3 and g5x4? Just trying to decid if i want to sacrifice hp for drivability. Any one have g5x4 experience and could comment on the drivability.

Not trying to jump down your throat, but that simply isn't true. The heads/intake have nothing to do with where the cam will peak in the rpm range (+/- 100 rpm). Ported heads and a better intake will only add/subtract hp at different rpm intervals, but has nothing to do with where the cam will make peak hp in the rpm range. If what you stated was true, cam manufactures would have no way to tell where the rpm range, for given a given cam, would be unless they knew exactly what setup each individual was running.

A perfect example would be the latest GMHTP article on the ported heads. They tested 6 different ported heads, some with sigificantly different flow numbers, but they all peaked at relatively the same RPM, again +/- 100 rpm.

X4 is a nasty cam with a set of 4.10's. It makes power everywhere. The drivability is all in the tune, not to mention the 4.10's help out alot. I shift between 6800-7000 and ran a set of comp 921's. Check into the new PRC/Patriot springs, they both have more seat pressure and are rated for .660 lift.

Look at your HP/TRQ curve and determine your shiftpoints based on that data AND a gear calculator. I have one if you need it. You can also find one at www.f-body.org/gears.
