i tried search but no luck. On average how much horsepower is a catback system work? I relize it will probably vary from system to system but what would be a good average number?

Nothing tangible? I picked up 2rwhp with GMMG, and that much can be swung just by dynoing on a different day. The real restriction in your exhaust is the catalytic converters and stock manifolds. Buy your catback for sound, and not for performance.

more or less depends on the type of muffler in the system... a more free flowing muffler will pick up a lot more rwhp compared to one that is larger and more baffled

i put magnaflow catback (i've heard it's one of the more free-flowing mufflers, but i only got it for the sound) in and i haven't noticed a difference in performance.
