Default can i test my oil pump before reassembly?

I am in the middle of a cam swap. I just got my ported ls6 oil pump in and the ls2 timing chain on. Is there any way I can possibly test the oil pump before I reassemble the entire engine so i dont ahve to tear it apart again? I am a bit worried that I pinched the o-ring. Although i seated it on the pickup tube and it looked good last I saw it, i am a bit paranoid, i dont want extra work.

At this point, my timing cover and valve covers are off, cooling system is off, pushrods and rockers are removed.

Can i just plug in the battery and turn it over a few times to see if i have oil pressure and it doesnt leak? WIll this work without the timing cover and valve covers or will it spray oil everywhere? Also, anything else I should look for, such as oil getting to certain places?

You could take off the oil pump, submerge the pick-up screen in oil and use a drillmotor to drive the oil pump shaft just to visually see how much oil it can flow.

i pinched my o ring the first try. if you had any resistance tightening the 10mm bolt or had to push it in theres a high chance you pinched it, if not it should be good. i verified mine by taking it back out to see if i did pinch it , its too hard to see with the pickup bolted up.

I was wondering if you could see it with the cover off, is it easy to see?
