Default Afr Port And Polish

I am just getting ready to pull my heads to put a new shortblock in and I have 225 cc and was possibly looking to have them ported and polished. The only things is how much power is still left on the table? Any suggestions would be appreciated

So you are saying you have AFR 225 heads, and want them ported? If so, they are already ported. As for polishing, that could be done since they are CNC ported, and would still have the machine marks in the runners, but the effects probably wouldn't be worth the effort.

How much more power did that net though? You can have a head that flows 350 CFM all day long, only to have it choked down to 290-ish through one of our wonderful intake manifold options.

Those heads are good right out of the box. Just clean them up a bit if your that worried about it.

I think mine flowed 324 right out of the box, I had them checked, and they were as advertised.

They can be cleaned up, hand finished, and I'm told this would net me another 10 HP. That may or may not be worth it to you.

+25cfm was pretty much across the board until .600 then only about 15cfm increase. i just had them polished, and because not certian of the bad valve issue with a few of the afr heads they are not on the car yet

seeing that you have a 408.... if it we're my 408 this is what i would do if i wanted more power:

yank the intake and heads off... sell them, and buy some L92 heads, and an L76 intake.....since your into flow numbers take a look at my heads here:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iv-internal-engine/602800-l92-flow-results-manifold.html
I hope to have some real world first impressions in the next week or so (damn holidays lol)

If this isn't an option for you: I wouldn't touch the 225's (assuming they are AFR's) if I were you.

good luck and keep us posted.
