I've run my stock 2000 part since the car was new with no problems. I'm running a Spec 3i clutch with the 02 slave. Make sure your fluid is clear and the lines are insulated from heat. I change the fluid in my reservoir once a month or so.

No, the shim goes behind the slave cylinder....

Just unbolt it and place the shim behind it before bolting it back in place....

Umm, Spec usually sends a shim out with their clutches, but if you didn't get one, I'm sure they'll send one out....

It's very important to do the drill mod and if you have headers you should shield the line going from the master to the bell housing. I wrapped my line with a reflective silver asbestos like cloth that I got from a parts store.

I Wonder If You Can Buy The Shim Or Something Locally.

Might wanna contact East Side Performance

Back when thechef talked me into getting a Spec 3 X-pad a couple years ago, he said he had a stack of them at the shop that they used for coasters lol

It wouldn't take much to make one youself, but if you're gunna go through the trouble of pulling the trans to install it, you might as well wait for the correct one from Spec....

Yes, the shim goes behind the slave cylinder which is located in the bellhousing, so you'll have to remove the trans or at the very least unbolt it and slide it back to gain access to the slave....

For the drill mod, you'll need to remove the line at the master cylinder....

I've heard of a few doing this without removing the master, but I've found it to be easier to just pull the whole thing out first....

All of them slipped or had a very high pedal with the shim installed
Had to remove them all

OK... So I have gone through 4 clutches, the Spec stage 3+ was before I realized that you HAVE to do a Drill MOD.. IT burned out the clutch and I only got 3000 miles on it. As far as the Master is concerned, I stuck with the stock and performed the drill mod which makes everything so much easier, not to mention stop and go traffic where depressing the clutch every other minute. I also went through a Centerforce clutch, once again, it only lasted for 3000 miles but that was an entirely different issue. THe point of the shim is just to create space so that you don't have to depress the clutch fully - you can create one on your own with metal pieces as long as it holds up and can take that kind of pressure. My advice, perform drill mod -- because it will save $$ in the long run!!
