Going D-1SC on stock motor..To upgrade valvetrain or not?
I am going to get the D-1SC for my 2001 WS6. Is it a good idea to spend the extra money on roller rockers, titanium retainers, pushrods and springs?
Or can I get away with the stock valvetrain?
Is this is big added expense?
Thx

I agree with the guys... Only if you are adding a cam. Turbo cars usually need to upgrade because back pressure put more pressure on the exhaust valve springs, but with a SC there is no such pressure.

I will see what Bob has to say about this, maybe I won't have to add that stuff then. I know I will have to upgrade the stock clutch tho! I am thinking Textralia???? Seems like it gets the best reviews.

I WOULD PUT SPRINGS AND PUSHRODS IN IT ATLEAST. YOU GOT PRESSURE ON THE VALVES NOW, AND A BETTER STIFFER SPRING WILL KEEP THEM OPENING AND CLOSING AT A CONSISTENT RATE. CAM WOULD HELP TO. 216/224 ON 114 .551 TO .576 LIFT WITH 3* advance would go awesome to.

We've done dozens of ProCharger installs using stock springs and pushrods. However, we did once have a local ProCharged T/A that we had previously installed the ProCharger on, that kept having a misfire. We swapped coils, etc, etc, turned out the valvesprings were totally shot at 35,000 miles! Now this customer was always beating the crap out of his car, always on the rev limiter, missed third and put it accidentally into first before, etc.
So valvesprings can and do go bad, it's certainly not a bad idea to change them when doing the ProCharger install. Bob

The stock stuff is OK as long as you keep the rpms down. Once you get above 6k, they are not enough IMO. But the cam change would as others said require springs. The rockers are ok, but have been know to fall apart under toruture. But then so do some of the after market rockers. I've had very good luck with my Comp Pro Magnums.
It's all a matter of how hard you plan to push it. If in doubt, listen to Bob.....
