Northstar in C5/C6 or LS1 F-Body
Anyone ever thought of the possibility of this?
CTS = Y-Body, but has northstar
Corvette = Y-Body
therefore, the engine mounts are probably pretty close?

Any reason for it?
Northstar V8:
4,565 cc 4.6 liters V 8 front engine with 93 mm bore, 84 mm stroke, 10.5 compression ratio, double overhead cam, variable valve timing/camshaft and four valves per cylinder LH2
320 HP SAE @ 6,400 rpm; 310 ft lb @ 4,400 rpm
I guess the supercharged one would be nice.
443-horsepower supercharged 4.4-liter Northstar V8
I'm sure it's possible.

a long time ago someone did a northstar into a V6 camaro. it was nicely done and deffinatly something diffrent.
the motors are not slouches and there is a large aftermarket for them. it would take work but it could be done, i would love to see a twin turbo 4.4 L

northstars leak oil like a siv, even the '05's
You would think they could engineer them better since '93
not to mention, head gaskets leak coolant/oil alot and all 20 head bolts have to be time-serted because the treads will pull.

And a 4.6 bolts directly into a v6 Fiero apparently. 4.6L + Fiero + very little work = no traction!!

I quess technically an XLR Northstar would bolt into a C5 using the XLR mounts but why go through all that trouble to get less power and a more complicated engine that has all these problems and I don't care how much aftermarket support a Northstar has it will never be cheaper to mod compared to an LS1. Your looking at 32 valves 4 cams etc. You may as well do M5 S62 swap at that point.

I was not aware of them leaking all the time but my fathers 00 northstar burns oil live a siv at only 75k miles(highway). Also if the car sits for a week it'll missfire badly and smoke upon startup. If my ls1 did that i'd never be able to drive it since it sits for weeks at a time

Northstar
Nothing personal but as far as the redesigned 05 and about Northstar's you guys are just plain wrong. I've owned and driven several. they don't leak and the head bolts don't pull anymore. The engine lays down immense power for the displacement.
There is a guy in Europe that won a championship with Northstar. the bottom end of the the 4.6 will take 800 hp. The motor was actually redesigned to be stroked to 5.6. The work on the Northstar was tabled, partly because fo teh success of the LS, and partly because the Northstar is an expensive engine to manufacture.
