Default yank 3600

I am think about going with a yank ss3600 in my t/a. my wife drives the car to work most of the time but I drive it on the weekends. my tunner did a great job making the cam drive and seem like stock when cusing around. my question is would the yank feel "stock" to my wife when she drives it? and BTW she never jumps on it just drives it normal.

or what converter would you recomend that she might not notice on normal driving?

PS its just a hot cam and it has 3.23 gears.

You should be just fine with the Yank! It seems a little freer than stock but after a couple of days of driving with it you don't even notice it.

I can't believe the people who say you won't notice it. You WILL, and it will definetely slip/rev more than it did before. You will always know it is there, and you will not "forget" about it. If you remember what the stock TC felt like, which is extremely tight and heavy there is a night and day difference.

Hell why even do a mod if you can't notice the effects?

Absolutely. Even with my "small" 3000 stall, I still notice it after almost 2 years of daily driving. Why? Because with any higher stall converter, the rate of increasing engine speed vs. acceleration at the wheels is unnaturally high. In other words, the car sounds like it's accelerating faster than it is.

If you have any experience driving regular auto trans cars, you will always feel the "unsualness" of the hi-stall converter. But if your girlfriend is anything like my wife, she won't notice a thing ...

There is a huge difference between stock and the ss3600. If you have loud exhaust you will notice it even more.

When I say not even notice, I meant for light throttle driving to/from work.. I meant not noticing it from the standpoint it will feel so loose that it will annoy her while driving.. Sure when you start getting into the throttle it will be a world of diffrence.

I disagree, mine is very noticeable during light throttle just driving normal trying not to get in trouble. Almost annoying. Of coarse my car is very loud has 4.10's. But don't get me wrong, it's without a question worth it. It may be the single best thing I've put on the car to date.

I guess it can depend on your exhaust too. When you have dumped duals, you will NEVER forget its there!

I have the SS3200 and I defintely still notice it. The car will rev higher from stop and be a bit louder, but the performance increase will be worth it.

Given those circumstances, you may get a pass on it ... although there are exceptions, many of our cherished ones are less than fully attuned to the mechanical characteristics of the vehicle they are piloting.

Yes you will notice it , Like any performance mod it has its pluses and minuses with the exception of exhaust , But from my experience its well worth it is you want a lot of GO when you nail it ,

For me I would like the yank (I am set on yank b/c I heard they are the tightest t/c) SS360 or even the SS4000, but my wife, maybe I sould get the yank 3000 I know the et will be better with the 3600 or 4000 but more than the et I want to get rid of the flat spots in the car, you know the pulls from 40mph or a pull from 75mph

I thought the SS3600 was a pretty tight converter. Not bad at all at part throttle. WOT....tires are gone. Now my 4200(not Yank).....it's a *****...loose as hell no matter how you hit it.

A quiet exhaust really helps make it less noticable. If she doesn't watch the tach and the exhaust is quiet, she won't care. Have your tuner raise your part throttle shift points a couple mph below 50% TPS. that helps get rid of the sloppy feel once the car is rolling.

There is a Yank 3200 that others have stated is very tight.

Exactly, if the exahust is fairly quiet and she doesn't watch the tach you'll be all set to run a SS3600, also if a majorty of her driving is above 40mph that will make it much less noticeable due to lockup
