I think 6K is nice. It's a little blue, but still bright. Anything more than that especially without a retrofit looks tacky IMO.

This is 6K in my buddies 3000GT. They look bright blue, but they're VERY bright (they're actually useful) when you're sitting behind them.

That car itself is sick as well. COMPLETE frame-off resto. Painted Porsce Carrera GT silver (you won't find a spot not painted silver). Every bolt was replaced with OEM bolts. Car put down 464AWHP on 25lbs with hybrid turbos. Now he has a built motor and two bigger turbos so it should put down over 500AWHP on moderate boost.

that car is sick. and you're right about the retrofit. when you just have bulbs and ballasts (without the projectors), it just doesn't look good.

Yes sir. You can also retrofit without using projectors if you want too. I can't think of all the cars that don't use them, but I know the older Acura TL's and CL's don't use them neither do the 04-05 STi's. My buddy had a Civic hatchback with retrofitted TL HID's and they had a great cut-off.

with those cars, the housing is designed from the get-go to accomodate HIDs so they don't need projectors. with our housing, the only way to get that look is with projectors. without them, you get a big blur. if you want the look of that 3000GT, you need projectors. it's not easy, as you will have to cut the housing. but looking at the end result, it's worth it IMO.

True. I'm glad someone else understands that HID's need a retrofit. I hate a set of non-retrofitted HID's coming at me at night. It really sucks for drivers on the receving end guys.

I actually found a decent site to show cut-offs. Just like the site says with a retrofit you notice the cut-off is near the the trim/headlights of the other cars so it doesn't blind them.

This Civic has a Lexus GS/IS retrofit (no projectors) and it looks pretty good. It doesn't blind other people, but it doesn't have a cut-off like projectors.

Notice how his lights aren't scattered everywhere. This is 4100K just for reference for the original poster.

Here's a plug-n-play kit. Picture was taken standing up, so like they said imagine what it'd be like to people sitting in front of the car in their car. This is 8000K.

I'm trying to draw up something like that, but not as big, i want the T/A lights to come up only half way. Figure that way you can fit the Projector in there.

works for me! I've resorted for now...to using a kit with well made housings with better optics and this was the result. Am I totally happy with them? No. But are the pretty much they produce the least offensive light pattern for putting HIDs in a halogen housing.

Let me know if a projector setup is do-able with not too much labor. I'll be the first in line.
