weird problems when i gun it

Default weird problems when i gun it

I went to pass someone the other day and my car hesitated and all my alert lights came on just like when you start up your car and my computer reset the trip went back to 0 can someone tell me whats goin on it does not do it every time and only seems to do it when i get on it. also i do not know if this has any thing to do with it but i just installed an 800 watt amp about a week before this problem started.

sounds like battery (possibly alternator) issues. Is it the origional battery?

No i dont think its the origional battery and it looks farliy new, how would i know if its my alternator or not ??

I'd have the battery load tested first, if for no other reason just to eliminate it as being the problem. Double check all your connections too. Haven't heard of a '98 resetting the trip odo to zero, but some '99 cars do it (sometimes accompanied with a gauge sweep too) with low voltage on start up.

Just bring it to some place like Auto Zone, they'll check it free. Also make sure it's not moving around/posts not touching anything under hard throttle.

I have fixed it on my way home yesterday it started acting up reel bad when i was coasting down a hill I took it out of gear and it was reving really high like 3000 rmp when it was in nutrual so when i got home i shut it off and started it back up it did not do it any more I checked the connectios and one was all corated looking and looked bad so i cleaned it of snuged it on real tight and road around all last night not a problem. thanks!!
