sounds kinda high, did you get heads with it? texas speed has a shortblock for 2800.00 add up your extras to that and see what it comes out to.
edit: is this installing and tuning too?

it was built by midwest engine tech, they build all the engines for finish line performance. No heads, jsut the short block. I have to sit down with the guy and see what else was done cause i could have sworn he told me 3900 but i had to get a nother crank so that was a few hundred and i told him not to use 1/2 inch head studs so with the head studs it would have been 5k but i told him not to do it so well see what the damage is

wel he told me he would be a little more than most off the shelf short blocks due to the quality work he does and i posted a thread about them and got a lot of good reponces thats why i went with them and also they are like 15 minutes from my house so i dont have to worry about shipping and if i have any issues i can take it back to him. I wanted a 408 but money was tight but i guess i should have went 408 well too late now lol

Midwest bulids a hell of a motor and im sure it's done right.BTW you don't need to drill and tap for 1/2 studs.ARP makes a L19 head stud that is just as strong as the 1/2 without the extra machine work. There pricey but still better off then the extra machine work.

Cam, head studs, timing chain and oil pump arent free plus being local you are paying tax as well. Custom pistons cost more then off the shelf pistons. I would put it in the car and if it does what you want be happy, who cares what anyone else paid really as long as it does what you want.

I paid a few dollars more for my W2W 347 shortblock then a lot of people but I have zero complaints and the extra money was well spent IMO - others may not see it that way but others dont own my car
