Default Rossler TH400 info needed

I figured I could get this info here without waiting until Monday to call them.

Has anyone bought their "terminator 2" TH400 that sells for $1,395?

How much horsepower is this unit rated for (flywheel or actual WHP)?

How do you like it? What is YOUR power level.

Thanks!

Can't go wrong with a Rossler TH210 (400) trany, lots of BIG dawgs run these and run 7-9's in the quarter.

Thanks, but that doesn't concern this thread.

I run the terminator th400 in my setup. I've talked to carl about what this trans should handle power wise. He said 1000 TQ is what it's rated for but the how it holds up also depends on the setup, weight of car, rear gear, stall, etc.

My car runs mid 10's @ 130 and is about 3800lbs with a 2.75 gear. I'm stressing the trans a bit more with my weight and gear choice but Carl said I have plenty of room for more power. He did say that some have gotten away with 1100-1200 tq on these setups but anything over 1000 tq starts to get in the range where you need upgraded shafts, etc.

My trans cost me about $2000 shipped from Rossler, speedo ouput, RMVB, trans brake and setup to 2nd gear doesn't freewheel (good for street driving). Make sure you run a good converter, i'm running a vig and really like it.

Doesn't it come with a Tbrake and a RMVB?

I would have to agree with the above info. I tell people the same thing that Carl said. Build it strong and you always have room for more HP. A 4l80e is good for this as well because you can still keep your overdrive. Vince

Looked at the site, guess it does.

A 4l80e would be nice but they are pricey and I'm a cheap bastard (most are not as cheap as I am). I decided to get brave and try 2.75 gears to keep the car drivable on the highway at 70 mph with 25.6" tall tires. If I has the money I would have gone with a full manual 4l80, that would be the shiznit.

Aftermarket overdrive units are still an option, but I'm suprised at how well the 2.75 gears work, really helps the traction situation on the street. With the 3.50 gears I use to have the car was just a smoke machine and sucked on the highway.

I'm gonna go with a 3.23, and like you...the 4l80e is just too pricey for my income and savings.

If I had a long *** time to save, I would spend more on a TH400 that has a super high HP rating, but my reverse on my T56 is already pretty shot, and it is a stock T56 with a 600flywheel hp ram HD clutch. I drive my car everyday as it is my only car and can not have my T56 completely take a **** on me.

$1400ish for a TH400, RMVB and a Tbrake that handles 1000hp is hard to pass up.

I got a screamin deal on my Rossler TH400, I bought it used with a Coan 4K stall, cooler, and a Dennys Nitrous ready DS.
Its nice to know the transmission will stay in one piece.

I was running 3.73 gears at first and on street tires if you looked at the gas pedal crossways the tires would lite up. I broke the 3.73s and threw in a 2.73 gear 10 bolt I had lying around and the hiway driving improved tremendously. It will not launch near as well now though.
I am going to go with the 3.73s again with the new rear but go with bigger tires on the rear to help with the revs.
I absolutely love my Rossler TH400 and highly reccomend his products.

We do build t56's and 400's if you decide to do one or the other.

Vince what's the difference in weight between a T400 and a 4L80E? And a 4l80E has the same gearing as a T400, ie. the first gear is 2.48? I'm running a T400 now, I used to run an FLP 4L60E for many years.

Thank you for the advise. Chuck and the web guy are doing some changes to the page as we speak. They have been taking pictures and editing all week end. I will shoot a PM back later. Or if you would like call us today and talk to Chuck. He handels the pricing and office stuff. I do the building, machining, and testing. We are a small 2 man shop that has a personal touch that I have never seen in the 3 other shops that I have woked in. Our qc is very high and will never change. You do not get this with larger companies. Talk to you soon,Vince.

I believe that it is about 75 lbs. Will have to check the shipping weights. Yes the 2.48 ratio is the same from the factory in both units. I actually have your original unit that Chuck built you on the shelf. There is quite a history behind that unit. It was one of the original 4l60e's with a vacuum modulator. The customer is building a turbo car and want's a 4l80e. Take care Vince.
