Default Rx7

Looking at purchasing a car that is already done (mostly). The car has complete running gear and just mainly needs some cosmetic tlc which is my fav part. My question is what neighborhood should I look to pay for the car.

well, more info is NEEDED!. There are 3 generations of rx7s. A fd is going to sell for a HELL OF A LOT more than a fc. ALso, depends if the engine is stock. Who did the install, was there a kit(hinson supercars..ect) or was it customer. This si like hey, i have a mystery car, how much would you spend on it.

Hinson kit. Built motor with AFR's, I think it is a 94. I know it is a touring car, like I said the paint sucks and the interior needs some tlc. I believe that the car is in sound running condition. With a CAAZ unit in the rear and some good axles it would be a sleeper from hell as it sits. If the guy wants too much for the car, I will just build my own and likely a 240 at that b/c of the weight.

I am wondering if this is something that I can get rid of if I get the urge to. If it turns out that I don't like it I would hate to lose alot of money on it.

depending on how bad the paint and stuff is, maybe 8-10k if it is a 94, if its a 91 or earlier, 5-6k, most cars that are swapped are painted with good interiors, so they'll be worth more, how much is the guy asking?

27k, the car needs to be painted all over. It also needs a couple interior pieces and the seats re-covered. I would also put some replacement speakers in there and some different wheels. The rear needs the good parts put in it. I figure the car needs at 8k put in it to get it where I want it to be. That is if I didn't put a fast 90 and tb on there and also I might consider a cf hood.

there asking 27k !

if the car needs to be repainted, **** that. you can pick up a fd (93-95) with a blown motor for a couple of grand, say 5k. That gives you 22k to get a ls1 in there and the body will be probably better than this car. hinson charges 8.7k for the conversion wtih parts, you need to supply a car, engine and tranny.

www.hinsonsupercars.com

Also keep in mind those cars were only made for 3 years here, you may have a problem birng the interior up to par on the car that your looking at.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1993-...QQcmdZViewItem

****, that car is running you could pull the motor and tranny and sel that to recoup some.

Well for what it is worth, I have been looking around my area for an FD, in 2 months there have been exactly zero for sale, and I have yet to see a clean roller or one with a blown motor for 5k, usually at that price, paint is pretty toast, body may have issues and the interior is far from "clean". Saw a couple with rebuilt/salvage titles in that price range that looked ok.

well..what exactly is your area? sometimes you have to be willing to travel a bit, soemthing isn't going to fall into your backyard. specially with cars that are somewhat rare.

after market parts don't add value, if you pay 8k for a built engine, expect to get 4-5k if you sell it. Hell, if you want to pay that much, go right a head, but i'd bet on that guy not being able to sell it for that price.

It will not sell for that without it being finished. However, I would pay a little more for something like that vs. a car with a stock ls1.

have you driven a stock ls1? No imagine knocking off 600lbs off the car and adding 4.10s in the back. What are you planning on doing with the car?

I want to roll race streetbikes. My goal is to trap 120 or so in the 1/8.

120 in the 1/8th mile or 1/4 mile? 120 in the 1/8 is like a high 8 low 9 second car. Also, if your looking to roll race, you want taller gears that aren't good for drag racing. What ever is the top speed you want to hit, you should have the car hitting it in 4th gear, as long as its reasonable(liek not trying to hit 200 in 4th.). a stock rx7 witha stock ls1 should trap somewhere around 115ish.

My rx7 will run 103mph in the 1/8th and 136mph in the 1/4. Motor only

120mph that is fast for 1/8 mile

I am about even with a hayabusa up to 120mph then I will pull them on the motor. When I use nos I can pull away from hayabusa's at any speed.

I didn't know that the split was that good 103 to 136 is better than I was expecting. I have decided to look for my own car to build now and it will probably have a turbo on it. Also I don't think I said that this will be a really dragstrip oriented car and it won't be. It may have big and littles and adjustible coil overs but I just want one of these to play with. I already turned my camaro into something that I don't really want to drive on the street. I want to do a badass street car now, which is kinda funny cause that's what my camaro started out as. Anyway maybe we'll get there.
