Default Any 1st. gen ls1 700r4 swaps

Putting an ls1 in a 69 Camaro with a 700r4. By my measurements I need to either move the tranny forward 1.5in, or move the engine back 1.5in. I do not have my oil pan notched yet or my headers for mock up. Just wondering what anyone else has done. Thanks

After looking at it for an hour I have decided that I can move the engine stands back and that will give me 1.5in that I need. Just need to make a plate to go under the stands. Thanks

I have a LS1 with a 700R4 in a 71 Nova with Street & Performance engine mounts and it fits in there really nice. It is close to the firewall but clears everything fine. I also have a S&P oil pan wich clears the steering good. I am running a set of Sanderson headers that are for a first gen Camaro and they just barely clear the steering box.
