Default Pacesetter LT Headers for my SS

I was thinking about treating myself this Christmas with some Pacesetter LT headers. I have an '02 SS with a SLP performance exhaust from the factory. The white sticker on the passenger door says "SLP Performance Exhaust Option" or something like that.

Will I need to buy the Y-Pipe as well or will the LT's hook directly up to my current exhaust system? Because of NC laws, I must retain the cats. Thanks.

you will need a Y pipe, they make catted ys that will fit the headers, and some people just buy a TSP Y pipe and put cats on it, or they get a custom Y done and put cats on it.

do not buy a pacesetter Y pipe.

coated pacesetters are 375 shipped right now, i just bought a set.

i would suggest not selling your SLP exhaust because im sure later you will wish you had them back.

Your "SLP exhaust" is known around here as the "dual/dual". It's very sought-after, especially now that it's no longer produced, I have one on my car.

Buddy just got through with with a Pacesetter header and Pacesetter O/R Y-pipe install.

Some of the best looking/fitting parts that i've ever seen.

Highly reccomended.

That just means the muffler, most likely the dual/dual. He won't have to ditch anything other than the stock manifolds and the crushed y-pipe. Mine sounds awesome. I am looking into having cats welded onto my ory though. too loud for the cops around here.

If you buy the TSP ORY:
This is a sort of before picture, at the time I took it I had already started grinding the inside.

I used a die grinder. I'm sure a dremel would work just take a little longer.
That picture is from 3 years ago, I'm not sure if these still go out that way.
Most people probably don't bother to look inside. In fact chances are pretty good I would have missed this myself. My buddy who was helping me put the headers & Y on the car caught it.
It's probably not a huge deal but imo the whole point of putting a 3inch ORY on the car is for better exhaust flow.

I did the same thing with my old TSP Y pipe. It wasn't anywhere near as bad as that one though. Some people hate the TSP Y, but I had no complaints. You just have to take your time setting it up.
