Vin Decoder Question, Am I a WS6?

Vin Decoder Question, Am I a WS6?
I bought my 01 Trans Am recently, and it didnt have the WS6 badge on he back. Granted it could be easily removed, but I guess you could say I'm pretty curious. It has all the other makings of a WS6. The exhaust is right, it has the hood and the ram air intake system. I just ran the vin decoder, and it says Formula, Trans Am. Would it come up as a WS6 or no? I also believe it oculd be a WS6, bcause i have raced two 98+ Z28's one with catback, and beat em both by a car or so.

fyi a ls1 is a ls1. your ws6 is no faster or more powerful than a z-28 or formy.
read the new to ls1 section at the top of the forum main page. it will keep you from repeating the same questions that have been asked before. search is your friend and so are all of us!

If for some reason the decal is missing from your driver's door (possibly repaired due to accident), then you can run your VIN# through the dealership's computer to get a listing of the RPO codes on your car.

"Absolutely false"???
Hey, I'll buy negligible...but NO difference at all?
Let's see, if you take a non-ram air T/A and a ram-air WS6 T/A with the exact same driver and exact same conditions of RPM launch and set-up and EVERYTHING'S the same......except for the WS6 package. Don't you think the ram-air system helps SOME?
However slight...and I emphasize SLIGHT, the ram-air DOES make SOME difference. Hey, I realize that eventually air "ramming" reaches a limit and air "sucking" may even be the majority of where air comes from but...it does make some difference.
Can a better set-up or driver in a non ram-air car beat a WS6/SS? Sure. But there are numerous guys who installed a ram-air on a non-RA car and swear by the butt dyno.

Let me put to you this way
If the hood was debaffled and sealed to the airbox (which it isn't stock) you would still only see maybe 3 HP at 100 mph. At that speed the Butt o metter isn't going to notice a difference.
LT1 cars like yours will show better gains because the system is sealed.
Although I have had experience with my stock Formula edging out an M6 T/A Hawk at the top end using a debaffled R/A Hood and FRA mod. I would attribute the win more to the FRA considering it is a better means of getting cold air to the engine. JMO

Only the SS has an Optional 3" SLP Catback (which is standard on the Firehawks). The basic WS6/SS has only a slightly less restrictive muffler vs the standard V8 system considering that the pipe sizes are the all the same for both.
The only statndard WS6/SS system that will show a gain is the `98 only system with the 3.5" single out. It does this by utilizing a single in/out muffler which is more efficient then the dual out setups.
Don't mean to come off as an *** on this but most of this stuff is common knowledge for LS1 Veterans.

Here's something I found in one of the threads:
2. Starting 2001, all LS1s came with an LS6 intake manifold without an EGR system
and in the following sticky it explains that a LS6 intake will net a 10-15rwhp gain.
source: https://ls1tech.com/forums/3608182-post4.html
So wouldn't an LS1 with a LS6 intake make more power than an otherwise identical LS1 with an LS1 intake?

But yes the installation of an LS6 intake on an early LS1 will gain 10-15 HP.

THe smaller cam was not put in to offset anything. It was put to allow for GM to remove the EGR on the cars........
