Default New 1/8 mile best, last time out for the year (really this time lol)

Had a local charity race come up (Draggin for Toys, good cause) yesterday and since my car was still together I figured I's run it. Got a 5.81 @ 118.8 best with a 1.264 60' with the 2 step at 2000rpm. Didnt want to deal with any wheelstands. Went to the final and lost to a Tunnel rammed N20 C4, 5.839 to 5.834 - good close race even though he was running 5.60s most of the day but he burped off the line in the final.

Few passes here, didnt get the best on video but its a video of something

Congrats Kevin!! I had a feeling that you might get a new best last night. The track seemed to be hooking pretty good for everyone.

Thanks again for all your help with my car.

Kevin

Kev Awsome job, I want your opinion on something? I will be running a 4L80E soon with a 3:23 gear ratio in the back (total street car with some track time), and since the Th400 has the same internal gears as the th400 with your 3:70 gears how do you think it will be affected???

In my eyes I think it will be easier to hook up on the street and with 600RWTQ it should still cut 13.-1.4 sixties with some 15in bogarts out back as long as the suspension is set right. Car is a 383 with a D1SC spinning it to 60571 RPM at 6200.

You will be just fine with the 3.23, I have the 3.70 because I've been to lazy to swap it out. My car is hitting over 7000rpm in the 1/4 so its up there, if you dont want to wind yours up the 3.23 would be a good option.

Most important thing, and I can never stress this enough, is buy a GOOD torque converter

I was thinking that with the Lower RPM the higher 3:23 gear ratio would be better. If the car shifted at 6200 and dropped to around 4500 (guessing) that would be about where I am making max TQ I would think, thanks for clarifying it.

A guy in Georgia is about to build the tranny for me same guy who is building Mightymouse's 4L80E and he built Cablebandits for him. I am in Arkansas so I think I may go with a Yank, also b/c I have heard good things from them. I have heard of the SC and a SY??? series that is suppose to be pretty badass. I expect to spend around 750-800 on a converter if that sounds about right?

I wonder if 3:23's would feel good with a Tight 3400 converter??

Dont go too tight on a converter, I have a 5500 and you wouldnt believe it if you drove the car around - my old vig 2800 with a stock engine felt 10x as loose. Talk to the guy thats building the converter and tell him waht your goals are, that will be way better then any recomendation I can give you.
