Default Fast 90/90 intake available at Advanced Auto Parts for 600$, WTF?

So yesterday my buddy and I stopped in Advanced Auto Parts to pick up some oil for his fox body. Anyway we are in line and we are talkin about carbed vs EFI (old school vs new school ect) and I told him how several people have suggested going with a carb on my LS1 RX7 project. I continued saying that I didnt see the real advantages of going carb on the Ls1 as I know absolutly nothing about how to tune a carbed engine and felt that EFI would be more street friendly and make more than enough power for a 2500lb RX7 street car. I then went on to say that the only advantage I could find to going carb over EFI was the limited selection of good Intake manifolds available for the LS1 and that the carbed setups flow much better it seems if you have the heads to match.

To this point the guy working behind the desk said how bout the Fast intake? To which I responded well its a great intake and seems to be really the only game in town if your looking for big power and the LS6 seems to work great for anything but the most radical 346s but the Fast is just so expensive....something like 1200$ with matching TB. And he goes no way I can get them here for 600$. I was like WTF. I was like your sure about that. Are you sure we're talking about the fast 90/90 plastic composite intake manifold? And he assured me many times this was the same IM he was talking about and that is was a special order item and he could get it 600$. (I would assume minus the TB) I told him if thats true I'm sure I know a few people who would be interested in knowing that.

I thought we were getting the best prices from our sponsors here? Could this be correct could you really get the fast 90/90 from some local auto parts store for 600$ I meen those places are generally overpriced when it comes to everything else. I just thought I'de let you guys know.

Maybe a couple other board members could go to their local Advanced auto parts and see what price they are quoted for the Fast 90/90

Damn good find , that must be with an employee discount . Actual store cost is probably the same as anywhere else . You got the hookup

I just double checked with Advance...they are not distributors for FAST, first off...they CAN get you FAST products through Keystone, a second source supplier for them. They have the 78 and 90 setups priced right in line with everyone else...no $600 deals there, unless your parts guy is just going to rip off their store and lose money on it. If he does, go for it...get me one too

I think I will head back in there and ask him some more questions, see if he'll stick with what he said before and I'll see if I can get him to follow through. I gotta make sure when he says 600$ he meens 600$ and not 695$ or anything like that.

That would be pretty badass. Im sure you could get a lot of people on here to buy them through you, from them. I would be in for that price and I dont even need one.

Hows this sound? you buy thoes intakes then i'll send you some UPS labels and $50 for your troubles and send them my way.

If its too good to be true, then its probley not true.

Maybe he saw the part number for intake shell assembly refering to the top or bottom etc. and figured it was the intake?

I work at Advance, and I can assure you that we have no such deal, or else I'd have one myself.

He mentioned the fast 90 intake manifold. I asked if this was with the 78mm TB and he said "no its the bad *** 90mm tb". he also agreed that the ls6 was pretty good too. He seemed to know LS1 parts better than your average joe at one of those shops.

Regardless I gotta get another ride down there with my buddy and see if he will continue this process. I have already had a few PMs as well as the responses in this thread with quite a bit of interest. Even though I dont need a fast intake at this point, if this guy is legit I figure I'll buy at least a few of them and re-sell them for pretty much same money.

Some of these guys run little 'side' businesses of their own. No warranty, usually used without the TB (and a few other things) at which point: it was too good to be true but he just bought a new Xbox360 and you are stuck with crap.
