Default Pontiac Firebird 1991

The headlights on my car won't go up unless I manually do it by twisting a **** for each one. I was wondering if i needed a new motor, etc.

Probably the plastic gears in them. Does it make a harsh vibrating grinding noise?

I have had my 1991 for 5 years now and the headlight motors have yet to go out. The car as 161k, I think the motors in the 3rd gens were quite a bit better than the 4th gens.

About a month ago however, my headlights wouldn't pop-up and the headlights wouldn't come on, even though the driving and foglights still worked. So I replaced the headlights and that wasn't the problem so I ended up replacing the switch and that fixed the problem.

I don't know if you have this problem or not, but I have had 2 91's and in both of my cars you have to tilt the steering wheels down to make the bright lights work. You can buy a dimmer switch from Oreilly's for like $10 and that will fix it. I had been tilting the damn wheel for 4 years, then when the headlights screwed up, I ended up fixing everything. Works great now

If they are still getting power and not going up, they probably just need to be rebuilt. I bought my rebuilt kit from http://www.top-downsolutions.com/pro...2925d1957dceed worked great and was easy to do.

i know one thing about 3rd gens......the window motors are like gods....only if the 4th gens would have used the same ones.....still on the stock motors 161k.....my 02 Trans Am has had both replaced 33k....pretty pathetic.....
