Default How much to shim oil pump?

I did a search and found 3 different answers.

Some say .100 minimum, LME supposedly recommends .150, TSP shims theirs .080. Which one is going to be best and not wash out bearings. Im going to fully port my oil pump with my dremel tool but I would like to bump pressure up a bit, I was at 65psi at 6600 and with my 4.100 stroke crank I want a little more lubrication and Im running large oil tolerances too, to help with the loading form the big stroke crank.

I find it hard to believe that out of everyone on here no one knows what the general accept shim size is.

volume is the key

why do you need more oil pressure??

Pressure also helps with lubrication and Im running large oil tolernaces due to an extra long stroke crank and I just want to make sure the life blood of my engine is circulating well.

I went with .100. well, actuall .104". you might want to go with the .150 though, since you have lager oil bearing tolerances to keep press. up at higher rpm.

why don't use just buy a better pump. melling has a high volume/high pressure pump that works awesome in these motors. 15%+ more volume, and 10psi+ more pressure. melling #10296.

in my case the oil pump comeing out of the car only has 6K miles on it. no need to replace it.

I shimmed mine with three small aluminum washers from lowes. Togather they were over 1/8 but under 3/16 thick. I figure .150 is a good thickness to shoot for. I have 60+ psi cold idle, and 45+ psi hot idle.

edit: i also got rp 10w 30 in there so the pressure going to be a good bit higher then m1 10w 30 .

Pressure without volume means nothing. What are your clearances at?

65psi at 6600rpm is more than enough pressure.

Mine is at .125. Just dont put too much or you wont have any oil pressure...... found that out the hard way.
