every time i see you guy's works in progress, i am amazed. :hail:
2 questions:
what exactly is that green tape?
and
why did you have to use it on the wheel?

It's painters tape, at least that's what it looks like. You can pick it up at any paint shop or automotive store.
Looks like they're using it to protect those gorgeous wheels :D

Correct, 3M painters tape. We use a lot of it. It is for protection to avoid scratches on the wheels.
Oh, and thanks for the kind words. I will pass them along to the guys that do the work. They are some of the best in the business.

You guys make by far the coolest cleanest meanest cars I've ever seen. I'm in awe of every car that comes out of that place.
BTW, the carbon gauge panel that you made for the SS street car, do you plan on selling those as blanks? I'm wanting to do that but can't find anyone who makes one.

They definately do insane work! I wish we could steal even one customer from them a year to do that kinda stuff, we do big projects, but they definately do the crazy one off things.

We can't exactly take credit for that dash completely. I decided to use a pre-made gauge panel this time around. There is a member on this board that makes them. We covered the one on that car with a carbon overlay. We have made them from scratch in the past though. Just decided to take a small short cut this time.

That's a nice idea. Ingenuity at work there. I also like the panel.. It makes for a nice clean cluster look.
Can you give the info for the guy that made the panel? If not, just PM me Todd.

I've seen those gauge panels for sale before. They look sweet.
You guys definetly do some of the best work I've ever seen. I like how everything has a focus on performance. Many shops (not on here) are just resto / we make your car look good shops. I love that you guys take every single aspect into account; performance, looks, streetability. You can see that in every car you do. Big thumbs up from me.

On the filter location, how willt he oil be drained? looks like it will (slightly) pour into the plastic lower piece, OR is there something with the way a dry sum works that I'm missing? No real idea, just curious.
Reckless
01-14-2007, 11:41 AM
You are correct Brandon......we may locate it off the frame a bit so it is centered over the hole. We may also consider a larger opening under the filter.

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to make my first post regarding my Camaro build at W2W. I have always had a very unique vision for how I wanted this car to look. The first requirement was to have car built with quality craftsmanship as the main component. The next biggest requirement was to have the fenders widened to accept a very wide wheel package while not having the quarter panels look like something was "added on". Like most people, I always liked the look of the Sunoco and Berger (GMMG) cars. So, I shipped the car off to W2W to let them work their magic.
I just got back from my latest 7 hour trip to Michigan to see the car in person. I consider myself a perfectionist and very particular. I could never describe how amazing the car is coming out. The car is far exceeding my expectations. All the fabricators are doing amazing work. I could of starred at Whitey's welds on the subframe connectors for hours, simply amazing.
The most amazing aspect of the car is how the flared quarter panel looks in person. The pictures posted thus far do not even begin to do justice to how amazing it is turning out. It is very dramatic when you look at it from certain angles, but the best part is that to most people they would think that it is factory. That is how you know it is done right. Denny took my vision and created a masterpiece. In my opinion, the quarter panels on my car are 100 times better looking than the Berger or GMMG cars. The quarters on those cars are simply add on pieces and they have a very un-natural and "added-on" look at the rocker panel area. Because Denny created these from scratch, they flow very nice yet if the car was parked next to a stock Camaro, there is a night and day difference. Once the quarters are finished more, Todd is going to take some better "angle" pictures of the quarters to show how amazing they really are. When you are looking at the car from the back, it reminds me of a Porsche 911 Turbo with how dramatic the flare is on the quarters.
Finally, if anyone ever had any doubts about who the best fabricating shop in the world is, I think I have the answer.

We don't really mass produce anything. Just make whatever the situation calls for, so I doubt we will plan for that ;)

Awesome build guys! Amazing craftsmanship, really awesome to see some one build a 4th gen to that caliber. Even more so that its a 93, no bias on my part there being a 93 owner myself, Bunch of us 93 guys are following the build, my question to you guys is, why that car? Its a nice car dont get me wrong but its an LT1 F-body, not the basis I would think of such a huge project to that caliber. Kinda curious behind that, a lot of us 93 guys really like the project because it shows people putting so much effort in to a car that didnt start off as any thing really all that special like a lot of our cars that we have continued to work and build on over the years. Its really awesome to see it being built but any reason as to why that particular car?
Thanks
potentz I'm scared to ask what that's costing but curious at the same time. LOL! I swear that's a 100K project. Dayumn worth every penny too IMO. One day I plan on W2W doing my rear panels as a retirement gift to myself in 09'!

WOW!! I had first seen this thread today. DAYUM! I now know where I'm bringing my car if I hit the lottery. I know most on here are in love with the pimp/bling, but those wheels are flat out EVIL looking, and fit the project MUCH better than chromie G/polished rolling stock. This work/craftsmanship is AMAZING!! :hail:

Thanks guys for the comments regarding the build. The project is far exceeding my expectations. I spent an hour talking to Kurt at W2W the other day and getting his valuable input into the project. The team of fabricators at W2W are simply amazing.
This was my first sports car that I purchased and I am a huge fan of the early 4th gens. I always had a vision of how I wished the car would have looked, particularly with flared quarter panels. The Camaros don't look right to me with the flat quarter panels. If you look at the car from the rear the quarters are straight with the door but the front fenders do have some flare to them. To me, having the rear quarters flared will give the car the correct look. Then the rest of the build just continued to progress with everything else. For example, to use the size of tire that I wanted and to have that "low" look, the car needed to be mini-tubbed in order to allow for proper suspension travel. Then to get the car real low, you can't have the fuel tank over the rear end and the factory suspension setup (torque arm) will interfere with the tunnel if you go too low. The solution, a fuel cell and a totally different suspension setup so that everything could come together. I only wanted to best of best as far as the setup went, so that is why I went with the fabricated rearend, carbon tubs, etc etc. Kurt is going to setup the rear suspension so that I will work correctly at the drag strip, on the street and also on the road course. This also will require having three wheel/tire setups. A lot of thought is going into the build to allow this (for example Denny will have the rear drag sway bar setup with a quick disconnect for when the car is driven on the street and road course). This is where their knowledge comes into play. Also, in order to have the car properly low, the dual stainless exhaust will be tucked up into the tunnel area and will be routed on each side of the transmission coming off the headers so that the exhaust is not the lowest point (if you look under the car when it is finished you won't even be able to see the exhaust). This required extensive floorboard modifications and a custom tranny crossmember.
As far as costs, I will only say that I will have over $100k after the car is finished the way I want it done. Perfection does come at a cost :>

Its a beautiful project, potentz. Its obvious that you and W2W have put a lot of thought into it right down to the often-unappreciated details. IMO there are few things more rewarding than watching a well-thought-out plan being masterfully executed by a talented group of folks. I'm very interested to see the pics as this build progresses.

Awesome work guys...
