My Alarm LED Relocation To Mirror

My Alarm LED Relocation To Mirror
I have a CompuStar alarm and for the past few years just used the stock location for the LED. Never really cared for it much, but never put any thought into relocating it until recently. I thought about drilling a hole in the back of the mirror and mounting it there, but after opening my mirror again I saw there was no place in the center to put one. I did have room to put the an LED on each side of it, but didn't really like the idea of having 2 alarm lights. I ended gluing the LED in the holder, soldered & heat shrinked the wires and ran them inside the mirror through a little opening and back out right next to the stock plug. I extended my alarm light wire up the passenger pillar and to where the stock harness comes down. It makes my alarm light more noticable too, which is always a good thing!! Sorry for the blurry pictures, my camera has been acting up here lately

Looks cool. Crazy question... how the heck did you open it up the mirror? I have an extra one I want to put in my 2nd gen for the map lights. I tried prying it a bit but was afraid to break it thanx.
BTW blue or red is a no-no with the po-po.
Ony they are allowed those color lights. You might get a ticket for that.

Not with it sitting in a parking lot.
I have my flashing blue LED on the driver side A/C vent next to the door. That way, if a crook wants to break in from my car, obviously they'll go to the driver side door and see the blinking LED I like your idea tho. May have to try that out

Opening up the mirror is no easy task. Just gotta take your time and be careful. They have tabs inside it, just gotta pop the frame tabs out of them. Yep stock color was red, but that got changed within a few days of me owning the car and installing the alarm.
I kinda wonder why they wouldn't put alarm lights there from the factory? If it can be seen easier and they're already running wire up to the mirror anyways, why not?

I know that any good thief could steal any car regadless of the presence of an alarm. So, if they know what theyre doing, then I doubt it would deter. But I suppose it should still deter rookies who would prefer easier targets.
Anyway, the light looks pretty cool
