Default New engine needed!!

My buddy has a '96 t/a with a nice engine prob. Debating on getting another lt1 or going for an ls1. Aside from overpaying for an lt1 at the dealership, where can I go to order a new engine. Also out of curiousity, what am I looking for as far as cost. Dealership quoted me: $5,500 for just lt1 and 100k warranty. Not looking for used but looking for a better price. Thanks.

They dont make crate LT1s anymore If you take it to the dealer they will either give you a remanufactured or junk yard deal or Charge you Mega $$$ on an LS1 swap. I would check out short block assemblies that come with heads and just keep you intake and other BS you can snag a nice 355 or 383 for around 3500 to 4K that is about the price of a junk yard LS1.

Try here they are a little pricey but an idea

http://speedomotive.com/ has some nice short block packages. I'm in the same boat as you. I've been shopping around.
