I've got 16*8 T/A (I think 1998) wheels on mine, same tires as you.
Mines an 04, but I still doubt you would have brake clearance issues.

just pickup 2 extra stock 17's and use those. some people have been using some 16in bmw wheels.

16" F-Body wheels work fine in the back.

Id like to run 16s so I can get a slightly larger sidewall and not have to worry as much about the tires rubbing the lip of the fender like the 275 Mickey Thompson on a 17" stock wheel.

but i thought the f body rims wouldnt fit on gto hubs?Other way around. You need to dremel the GTO wheels if they are going on an F-Body.

bmw wheels work, friend of mine has a set of 15 inch rims with DR's on them...

They might fit on there ok, but they aren't the same bolt pattern.

The least that would happen is maybe screwing up the wheels a bit, the worst would be some broken wheel studs.

There are guys on LS1GTO that run them with no issues though. And personally, I wouldnt give a crap about screwing up some crappy 16x8 wheels anyway. You could just buy 2 more for like 50 bucks.
