Yea, that nagging orange MIL that pops up occasionally, and especially if you can't program it out, it's annoying, embarrassing and almost pointless. Seems to be a problem here too, I see from a quick search. Well, good old GM has a solution for you...

I just got a "recall" letter indicating that The General will replace the offending cat for 10 years or 120,000 miles. (I wonder of they will do both.) If you have a 2000 LS1 car, you will probably be getting one soon, too.

Haven't gotten the letter yet but someone posted it on another board. It's not a "recall" just acknowledges there is a potential problem with the cats on the 2000-2002 F cars and extends the warranty past the 8yr/80K federal emissions warranty.

Edit: I'm putting P0420 and P0430 in here for future searches.
