AFR 205 ported head Vs TSP LS6 heads

Stage 3 ported AFR would be worse, since no one has been able to port an AFR head and have it perform even as well as the stock out-of-the-box CNC heads from AFR. But, if you had an off-the-shelf AFR 205, I'd give a slight nod to them over the PRCs. For the money though, the PRCs look great.

I went with the Stage 1 243 based PRC's for my build (228/232 cam, LS6 intake, LG LT's) over the AFR's. There are people putting down 450rwhp with my cam and TSP's OR AFR's. My combo is currently putting down 412rwhp and there is a Vetteforum member putting down very similar hp and torque (tuned) with AFR's.
I know AFR's have more refinement...but I've been very pleased with my TSP's so far. GREAT torque, good hp, and a $1100 savings that I can put into other goodies like a clutch, intake, nitrous, exhaust, etc. Most people agree that AFR's are worth about 10-15 rwhp over the PRC's depending on the setup....not worth $1100 to me.
About the only thing I have heard is that the deck is thicker on the AFR's so they're better for nitrous applications. If you're thinking about nitrous in the future, it might be worth spending the extra money so it holds together.

I bought the AFR 205's and had them milled to 62cc, my car is a bolt-on, 224/224 cam car and I put the AFR's on with the 90/90 (not ported, straight out the box) and picked up 6 tenths and 6 mph at the track. I dont know what kinda HP it has because it still hasn't been tuned but the clock dont lie. Alot of people say that TSP's are better or just as good but I would do it the same way if I had it to do all over. Not knocking TSP, I'm just happy with my results.

Is that through a A4 or M6? Also, what thickness of headgasket are you using? I have the same set-up sitting on my shelf, waiting for this spring.

I have the PRC 2.5's see my sig for dyno/track times. I wish I had them milled before the install...that's my only regret. Otherwise, for a budget head I'm very pleased. And I know my combo has the potential to put up better track #'s.

Go with AFR. I had a set on my 346ci milled to a 59cc. i made 463hp and 414tq with a 12 bolt/4.11's non ported fast 90mm,heavy drive shaft, stock water pump. The car ran 11.1 around 125mph n/a and 10.27 on a 150 shot. that motor still had more in it if i maxed it out. Before i had a top sponsors stock style cnc ported head and the AFR killed it by 5 tenths at the track. spend the money and get a great product.
