Default Bad O2 Sensor: P0135: What Happens If Keep Driving??

Just got code P0135......again. Happened three months ago and replaced the fornt O2's with Boshes from Autozone.

What can happen if you just keep driving it. Can the AFR go so bad as to ruin engine??

I just did a Seafoam treatment last weekend. Could this have kille an almost new sensor??

Hey howie, I was getting that code for a while. When i did the Seafoam on mine it did mess up the O2. They claim it won't but it did on mine. If you have cats in time I would say it will plug the cats up if you keep driving it. It will probably burn rich with the O2 bad. I would just get another.

It can, when I did my oil analysis the extra fuel resulted in high metal readings from internal parts.

Hi

So you DID also have a O2 go bad after Seafoam??

AND you ran it that way and confirmed the metal wear???

WOWWW !!!!!

Wonder why this is not a more know issue ????

Fortunately I bought mine at Autozone and they are waranteed for a year !!

Still have to replace them though. I think I am going to have to learn how to do this with jack stands. Wonder if it makes sense to remove them when doing the Seafoam.

Well, I'm not sure how well it would run without the O2s but I guess it would run like crap anyway when you put the seafoam in. But yea, if you had an old set just to put in when you do the seafoaming that would work. Mine may of been going bad, I don't know. But they sure didn't last after the seafoam

I had my O2s completely **** out on me back in the summer. The SES light flashed, the car spit, sputtered, backfired, and drank an enourmous amount of fuel on my 60ish mile way home from the track. The next day I got it scanned and replaced them.

Once your light comes on and you get the code, the car will be ok for awhile, and you won't see any noticable difference in performance at first, but if you go too long you could end up with a mess. Get them replaced asap is my suggestion.
