Default Hooking up halos

When i got my car the halos werent wired up, Im debating hooking them up. There are just the two wires, a red and a white. Im assuming i just hook one up to a 12 volt source and ground the other and it doesnt matter which is which?

I used red as my "hot" wire, white as the ground. Just makes sense as red is usually the one getting the juice(battery).

Just a side note do not splice the wires and then use electrical tape, they will mess up after awhile. use butt connectors then use heat shrink to help protect it....
