LS1 mileage question
I got a lead on an '01 Vette (LS1) with 130K on it. I know from past experience that that is not really too big of a deal on and old SBC. The question is how big of a deal is it on a LSx block? The Vette is in realatively good shape with exception of the interior which I can get fixed and it runs like a bat outta hell it has a blackwing and a Borla exhaust and legit ZO6 wheels and tires. I can get it for 13K. Although it's not the perfect car it would get my foot in the door on a Corvette.

I wouldnt be afraid of milage on these cars. Just make sure its been taken care of and hasnt been beat to ****. I have over 110K on my car, and while theyre mostly highway miles, I dont pull any punches when I drive it. These engines will continue to make great power as long as theyre well maintained. Might think about asking the seller if you can have a leakdown test done on the car. Plan a cam swap and then youll have a fresh top end too for cheap.

Yeah it (the purchase) would be dependant on me being able to check that kinda stuff. It wouldn't be too long before I got into the motor anyways thinking about it I should prolly be more worried about the trans (A4) to make sure it's not ready to go.

These engines are very well designed and will go forever. The tranny will be an issue.Rip it out and have the valve body drilled and stiffer springs etc to help it cool better,or go 6 speed.Conversions are readilly available from guys building race cars and going auto.13k sounds like a great deal.J

We sold a guy a 113K mile 98 A4 Z28 (i dont think it was stripper, but damn close) and it went 13.3@105 with a weld in crapmaster . Stock filter and tires on it when we sold it (says him). He put ET streets on it and a 150 shot when I saw him run it and he went 13.1!104 (no spray then). Car finally died with a cam, stall, exhaust, LOTS of juice running 10.40's@130+ He spun a rod and he blamed it on oil starvation, I saw the piston and it looked fine other than the huge bannana bend in its rod!

I'm very tempted but I also found this http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...0&cardist=1068 IT'S VERY TEMPTING. But something tells me I should bring my Smith .40 it might be a trap to take my kidneys.

thanx you saved me a few bucks I would think if I'm gonna buy a 'Vette I wouldn't want a salvaged one........ But that is still a good deal.
I've got a lead on a '00 hard top (looks just like a ZO6) 18K with 80K but right aroung the corner 70miles.
Anybody know what you have to do to put a baby seat in a vette?

i would seriously check the condition of the suspension. that will reveal alot about the previous owner, if it was garaged or not, washed regularly or not, and if the maintainance of it was kept up then most likely the rest was kept up to

I lived in Jersy for 2 1/2 yrs and there was this one guy with a red '93 or 4 who did. But I do know most of you guys that live in that kind of weather have junkers/heaps or at least a car you don't give a damn about for the winter. That road salt is a biatch on cars.
