Bonafied 99+ computer that I can upgrade or............?

Bonafied 99+ computer that I can upgrade or............? Okay, I have my eye on this 10/98 (so the door sticker says) camaro. I pulled the computer and it has a service # 09354896 . First question, is this the 99+ that is so differant from the 98 computers? Second, I can throw any 99-2002 computer int the car and go, correct?

98's are a pain to tune for a few different reasons....you can take any unit and reflash it to what year your car is....for instance if your car is a 99 and it has emissions on it, you need to flash your computer to a 99, however you can go through and still change spark tables and fuel trims

Yea, I have heard they are a pain. I have a 98 and want a 99+ The one I am looking at , the door says 98, but, the computer says 99+ . I TOLD everyone that my luck was gonna **** with me, they just didnt listen!! At least the guy was cool enough to let me pull the computer to check it. I just need to make sure this is the newer unit that I need, the 99+ , even though it is on a 98 body, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
