Default Please fill me in!!!! Please post up!! Updated With pics!!!

There is a guy close to me that would like to trade me heads, I have a brand new set of LS6 243's fully assembled, he has Patriot Performance stage 2 LS6 heads with the below specs. If My mind recalls right. He is only missing the springs and retainers, but everything else is there, and they have about 1500 miles on them. But what I am wondering, I have a stock ls1, would these be fine if I was to fly cut the pistons? Or would I even have to do that??? and what cam would be best recomended to go with these heads???

59 cc chambers

2.05 exh./1.60 intake valves

have not been milled at all

thanks in advance.

why is he tryin to trade???? and they will fit on your ls1 and you can get a semi big cam in there maybe search on the cam deal but i would say call like TSP and see what they say for cam.
228R would be sweet.
id trade if there i was you and get some nice springs and titanium retainers

Sounds a little fishy to me... Go get the Patriot's check out first. If they are 100% ok, then DO IT!- & DO IT FAST!

Your going to have to put a few hundred bucks in them anyway's, for the springs and stuff. Also kee in mind how much you paid for your LS6's.
I was only able to go as big as a F11 on mine, but some poeple get lucky and dont have to fly cut piston's and go as big as F13's or F12's.... But who knows...

Good luck

Those pictures are tiny, cant see squat.
Why does he want to trade?
You need to have them checked out before you trade for them.
And how do they get to be 59cc chambers if the have not been milled? Is that the chamber size Patriots ls6 heads come in?
PRC retainers and springs have a good price.
You really need to know why he wants to trade. It just doesnt sound right.

allright the reason he told me he could not use them, is because he did not want to use them with the set up he is doing. I think he did not want to have to fly cut, But not sure. I will try and resize the pics so you can see them, They look like they are in great shape. He said they only have around 1500 miles on them. They come with no springs or retainers. Just heads and valves.

The only thing I seen with them is that the intake port has holes from the rocker stud. But I was told that is fine, I can put some thread seal and it would be fine. Is that true or no???????

Let me now guys. Cause if I move on these I need to move fast.

If he's looking for lower compression for FI then it makes sense as to why he wants to swap I guess. But if he was having a problem with tuning then you dont want them.

Are you talking about these? https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...85#post6037385 If so hurry up and decide, I was told someone else was ahead of me and he would wait till they decided before we could work a deal. If I get them I need to pick up some hardware and install them over Christmas break.

Those things have huge intake runners. I'd stay away from them.

WOW 250 cc intake runners are huuuuuge for a stock displacement motor. Personally, you would be better keeping your current heads. Just my $0.02

I took them off the car because I didn't like the size of the intake runners. I wanted something a little smaller. The compression ratio was fine and I did not have to fly cut. There is nothing wrong with them. They need springs, retainers, locks, shims (depending on the springs you want to use) and seals.

this is the reason he told me he did not want to use them.. So maybe it is not a good idea to get them. If the intake runner is to big for a 346, I wonder what kind of affects it would have.

You're probably not going to make a lot of power from these heads, maybe not much more than stock and there is a chance less.

I would call Patriot and ask them about buying these heads and if they would reccomend them on a stock 346 with whatever size cam you are planning. Let them tell you the pluses and minuses to running them.
