Default What thread type / pitch are the LS1 headbolts?

Reason I ask is I have 2 complete Metric and SAE tap and die kits.

I could probably chase the bolt holes with the right tap if I knew the size....

SAE (size/pitch) or METRIC (size/pitch)

Anyone know?

Default Do Not Use A Tap To Chase!!!!

It is metric(11mm i think)but use a thread chaser!
A tap will cut fresh threads and weaken them, then you are more likely to "lift" a head/blow a head gasket.

It wont be in your set. THe bolt is an 11mmx2mm if I remember correctly. You can call around and hardly anyone will have one. I think the cheapest that I found it was for $75 pus shipping. THe thing that eveyone does on here is to use an old (long) head bolt and grind a slot on one or two sides of it (like tap would have) and use it to clean out the holes.

Love this board. Everytime I'm thinking about doing something really stupid this community saves my ***. Thanks guys. I guess I'll use the old cut a notch in the stock head bolts.
